Cole Glasson Makes the Show |
| Cole and his team traveled to Daytona Florida to race in the WKA Manufacturer's Cup over the Christmas Holiday. In 2007, Cole did not make the finals either day as only the top 30 drivers advance. This year was no different with the competition, as the entire 50 car field was separated by only 2 seconds. The separation to make it to the finals was less than 1 second. During day 1, we were about 1.7 seconds off the lead and came out of qualifying at the 27th spot. This meant we had to move on to the last chance qualifier and compete against the remaining 25 drivers and come in the top 5 spots. We started on outside pole of the lcq and with three laps back got in a scuffle in the turn and fell to the 7th spot. Cole battled his way back up to the 4th spot to advance to the prefinals and finals. He finished day 1 off with a 23rd finish in the prefinal after starting 29th and 22nd in the final. Day 2 brought us better luck and speed. Cole advanced directly into the final with his qualifying time only 6/10ths off the lead and qualified 25th! In the prefinal he moved up to 19th spot where he would start the final. The final was wheel to wheel action where he moved up to 18th and then was sent to the dirt 15 yards deep as 9 cars freight trained by him as the dust settled. He was able to keep the kart going and battled his way back up to 23rd where he finished. We came out of the weekend ranked 22nd with the next WKA race in North Carolina in May. |
